When Prime Minister Erdogan was elected back in 2003 he gained a large support from different segments of the society other than center-right constituents including liberals, non-religious and even some center left voters through his pro-reform agenda based on EU negotiations framework. In the past decade, this reformist agenda has progressively been conducted by the government all the way up to 2010 constitutional referendum, which was a milestone for political history of Turkey regarding military and civilian relations, judiciary, fundamental rights and freedoms. What we have seen over the last 3 years starting from 2011 in Turkey is a story of a country getting back to its bad habits and addictions. So that, state of democracy has reached a point where autocratic methods have become more of a rule rather than an exception giving the fact that AK Party is recently pushing for some of the controversial law grafts to be passed in the parliament including HSYK bill, amendment on internet and law on intelligence service (MIT).
